How to Ask an Effective Question in a Group or Forum

When you post a question to a facebook group or Internet forum, please give some basic info so we know how to help:

Are you doing keto now? If so, how long?

Are you Type 1 or 2, insulin resistant, hypoglycemic, have gestational diabetes?

What meds you’re on – and if asking about supplements, which ones you’re already taking and what problems you’re encountering that you think a supplement may help with.

How many carbs a day you’re taking in.

Fasting blood sugars and bedtime blood sugars. (before and after meals too if you have them). What is your A1c (if you know).

If you’re following any “special” protocol (Fasting, for example)also if you have any specific medical problems.

You’ve probably said it all before, but with as many members as groups and forums have, we can’t remember where everyone is all the time!!

Thanks – that info will really help us answer your questions and will help you get the answers you need

How to Comment Correctly Within a Thread

What is a thread? When someone posts something new in the Group or Forum, people begin to comment. The post along with all the comments/replies is called a Thread! 🙂

When someone asks a question in a Group or Forum, they’re seeking answers. Please read their question carefully and be sure your response is in answer to their question… i.e. don’t be a hijacker.(someone who changes the subject in the middle of a conversation)

What does it mean to “Hi-Jack” a thread? (thread = all the comments answering the topic of a Post) “Hijacking a thread” refers to behavior of someone coming into a thread conversation and focuses on one tiny aspect of the original poster’s topic, and moves the entire thread off-topic by replying to just that one aspect instead of considering the whole question.

Or sometimes the hijacker isn’t even responding to the original author of the thread, but what someone else said. Then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and moves the entire thread into something that has little or nothing to do with the original author’s post.

And worst of all, sometimes someone just asks an entirely different question having little or nothing to do with the topic of the thread.

Members who begin a post do so for a reason — they want to discuss or talk about THAT ONE THING. They have a question that needs answers.  Hijacking occurs rapidly, and the entire thread often devolves from there quickly.
If you have a question about something else, start your own thread 🙂

Most people who engage in this behavior probably don’t realize what they’re doing, and don’t mean to do it. That’s why it’s important, before you reply to a thread, to ask yourself a simple question — “Am I contributing to this thread, or am I changing the topic and/or focusing on some minor aspect that really isn’t what this thread is about?”

If the answer is that you’re focusing on some minor aspect or looking to change the topic altogether, you should create your own new post instead.

What is BPKC (Bullet Proof Keto Coffee) and How Do You Make It?
(BPC or BPKC is great when you first begin Keto – it helps you get in all the fat you need to keep you feeling full and alleviate cravings.
Later, you may not need so much fat – you can still have your coffee, just reduce the fat! Having coffee with a splash of heavy whipping cream is still KETO! :))

When I first heard about this coffee, I thought ‘WHY oh why would anyone in their right mind put coconut oil and butter in their coffee??’. Well, now I can tell you why!! 🙂

1. It’s absolutely delicious
2. It keeps you from being hungry FOR HOURS!!
3. Fats are good for us and these two fats are especially good for us
4. Coconut oil contains MCT (Multi Chain Triglycerides)
5. Can you get too much fat? Yes, once you’re in fat burning mode, When first starting keto, a bpc can really help you get into fat burning. Once you’re fat adapted, you may find you don’t need as much. Tweak as you go!

  • Use real butter or grass-fed butter like Kerry gold.
(Most regular grocery stores carry this, it’s in a gold wrapper – Walmart has it and so does Kroger)  But if you can’t find it, it’s ok to use regular butter – salted or unsalted as you prefer (I like salted)

    (MUST use butter, NO MARGERINE)

  • The MCT oil promotes high energy, fat loss, and brain function. It will make you feel better and get thinner. It also makes the coffee have a better feel in your mouth, but coffee with just butter is ok too.
  • Don’t use a low-fat butter substitute.  – Margarine and other fake fats are not good – look up whats really in them!!

Some people like to blend their BPC. –  it creates a froth on top and tastes more like a latte.

If you need a blender, here’s the one I use: the Ninja Master Pro. (sounds fancy, huh? lol) It’s really great and I love it because it’s so much easier to clean! The motor sits on top – you don’t have to screw it together with the blades, just lift it off and the blade assemble just lifts out as well. Click here to see it on Amazon!

Personally,  I just use a frother. 🙂  I have it with breakfast each day and don’t get hungry until about 3pm!! I started with  1/4 tsp of coconut oil and 1/4 tsp of kerrygold and a couple of shakes of cinnamon in my mug, add a little coffee and stir til oils are melted, then fill the cup. I add a splash of HWC (heavy whipping cream) and a squirt of stevia. mmmm good to go!

I use a Milk Frother to whip up a nice froth. I use the IKEA Milk Frother. and you can find it by clicking here!

Don’t like coffee? Use tea, or broth! It works just as well 🙂

IMPORTANT- start off with about 1/4 tsp of coconut oil and 1/4 tsp of butter and work up to higher levels to avoid tummy upset . 🙂 Some people use up to a Tablespoon or more of oils once their body is adapted.

Here’s a recipe for blended BPC – do be careful with hot liquid in a blender – read your blender’s instructions for blending hot items!

#1 Make coffee: Brew coffee as you normally would.

#2 Pre-heat blender: Follow your blender’s instructions for this

#3 Froth: Empty hot water from the now pre-heated  blender and add the brewed coffee (amount for your blender per manuracturer for hot liquid), butter, and MCT oil.  Blend  (stop and vent blender every 10 seconds to let the steam out) until there is a thick layer of foam on top like a latte. A Blend-tec or Vitamix blender will do it quickly, a normal countertop blender takes longer, and a handblender works ok if you don’t have a real blender.

#4  (optional) Add cinnamon, vanilla, sugar free syrups like DaVinci or Torani, and/or a sweetener like Stevia, splenda, erythritol, or xylitol (remember, xylitol is toxic to dogs!) (I don’t advise artificial sweeteners, but this is up to the individual to decide – research them to make your own informed decision)

#5 : Put on a satisfied look and enjoy the high performance buzz from your creamy mug of Bulletproof Coffee as you watch your chubby, tired coworkers eat low-fat yogurt and twigs for breakfast.  It’s almost unfair.

Oh, and what’s the catch?  You will have no excuse for not getting things done now that you’re powered by Bulletproof Keto Coffee!!
